More Ways to Help AWC
Empty Your Closets: Allied Women's Center accepts new and gently used baby clothes, maternity clothes, non-maternity clothes and other items useful to a new mother and her baby. Call us to find out what we are accepting now as we do have somewhat limited space for donations (it can be a "feast or famine" kind of situation every month).
Prayer: Allied Women's Center is a safe, welcoming place for women and men dealing with crisis pregnancy situations. Many come in angry, sad, scared and depressed. They don’t know how they’ll get through their crisis and often ask for prayer. We give them hope, compassion, truthful answers to abortion and its alternatives, and pray with them and for them. Consider praying for these women, their families and all our staff, volunteers and board members. Together in God's name and with heavenly help, Allied Women's Center will be able to save even more babies (2,500+ so far) from abortion.
Additionally, consider becoming an AWC Phone Prayer Warrior. After signing up for this powerful prayer ministry, every week or so you'll get a text message on your cell phone asking for intercessory prayer to help a staff member during a "hard case" counseling session. Your "in the moment" prayers can literally save a life! For more information, please visit this section on our website.
Throw a Baby Shower: Gather a group of friends, church or family members and throw a shower for a pregnant mother signed up to receive assistance from Allied Women's Center. Call AWC to ask us how to host a shower for a specific pregnant woman or multiple pregnant mothers.
Host a Formula or Diaper Drive: Diapers are the most requested item at Allied Women's Center, and we give out in all sizes of diapers on an almost daily basis. We also have a great need for baby formula. Some of these items we receive as donations; some we have to buy when stock runs low. To assist us provide new mothers with these essentials, please consider hosting a formula or diaper drive with your parish group, friends and/or family.
Spread Cheer with Holiday Gifts: Most of us get excited planning for the meals to prepare, and the decorations to put up, for Thanksgiving and Christmas. For low-income families with multiple children, however, these holidays can be a major source of anxiety. To alleviate that stress, consider buying a toy, clothes, a stroller or other material goods ~ even a turkey or grocery store certificate ~ that Allied Women's Center can pass on to a needy family or families in our client community.
